Hello Eglinton-Lawrence!

On April 26th we were pleased to host the Hon. John McCallum for a Town Hall on Immigration. The Minister pledged to address the delays facing immigration processes, which was very well received from the 200+ who turned out.

The fires in Fort McMurray continue to burn, and the anguish of thousands who have been displaced was matched only by the generosity of Canadians, whose $30m in private donations will be matched by both federal and provincial programs, for a total quickly growing past $90m (we also are offering tax relief to those affected). To donate, go to the Red Cross. For the government’s up to the minute information regarding the wildfires, click here.

This past week saw the Prime Minister pledged up to $840m to improve transit in the city – a very welcome announcement for both our riding and of course Josh Colle, Councillor for Ward 15 and TTC Chair.

For the week of May 9-13, I will be sitting in parliament Monday to Thursday and in the constituency office on Friday. Hope to see you soon!
