Hello Eglinton-Lawrence!
On April 26th we were pleased to host the Hon. John McCallum for a Town Hall on Immigration. The Minister pledged to address the delays facing immigration processes, which was very well received from the 200+ who turned out.
The fires in Fort McMurray continue to burn, and the anguish of thousands who have been displaced was matched only by the generosity of Canadians, whose $30m in private donations will be matched by both federal and provincial programs, for a total quickly growing past $90m (we also are offering tax relief to those affected). This past week saw the Prime Minister pledged up to $840m to improve transit in the city – a very welcome announcement for both our riding and of course Josh Colle, Councillor for Ward 15 and TTC Chair.
For the week of May 9-13, I will be sitting in parliament Monday to Thursday and in the constituency office on Friday. Hope to see you soon!
