This week, MP Mendicino rose in the House to speak about gun violence in Toronto neighbourhoods, and the need to strengthen Canada’s gun laws.
The proposed legislation in Bill C-71 will propose common sense measures such as requiring more comprehensive background checks for firearm ownership, requiring purchasers to show their licenses when they purchase firearms, and requiring vendors to complete complete records of all firearm inventories and sales.
This approach will help to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals, and help police trace firearms used in the commission of crimes.
