Marco Mendicino, the parliamentary secretary to the federal infrastructure minister who was in Saskatoon on Thursday, said he does not agree with Kenney’s characterization that Quebec has been handed a veto over proposed pipelines.

“We would look to work closely and consult extensively with provinces and territories which would be implicated by any project that would straddle provincial boundaries,” he said, adding that a decision would only be made after that was done “in the national interest.”
